Nyodema Yiriwa Kafoo (NYK), a charitable organisation in Brikama in collaboration with Youth in Need, a charitable organisation based in the United Kingdom, since its inception have committed themselves to improve educational opportunities in the Gambia.

It is against this background that, on Friday, the organisation donated educational and office materials to various institutions in the western region.

The beneficiaries included Sifoe Senior Secondary School, Penyam Upper Basic School, Region 2 education as well as the Western Region Immigration Post.

Kebba Jammeh, president of NYK, said the gesture is not the first of its kind, noting that the organisation has been extending helping hands to many institutions notably the Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service, amongst others.

According to him, they deemed it fitting to help schools in the country especially those within the Western Region.

Modou Lamin Saidy Khan, Chairman of the organisation echoed similar sentiments and expressed hope that the gesture will go a long way in helping the beneficiaries. “Though it is small, we believe it will go a long way in solving some of the problems, as far as our aims and objectives are concerned, the sky is the limit,” he said.

Receiving the gesture on behalf of the beneficiaries, Famara Kujabi of the WR Region Education, commended the donors.

He noted that nationbuilding is not only about building structures but also to raise the capacity of the citizens.

The occasion was graced by Chief Inspector Modou Lamin Bojang of the Western Region Immigration Post.
