Armitage Ex-Students Association of the Gambia College (ASAGC), in collaboration with the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI), elected recently a new executive body to steer the affairs of the association and promote the welfare of students in both institutions.

The election was done at a ceremony held at the Brikama campus. The occasion, which brought together ex-students of Gambia College and the GTTI, saw the appointment of seven members of the association charged with the responsibility of steering its affairs for the next three years.

The newly elected members include Mamina Hydara, president representing the Gambia College ex-students, Karamba Jawla, president representing GTTI Branch, Edrissa Mballow, secretary general of the ASAGC, Kalifa Kandeh, PRO, Fatou Suso, treasurer, and Vensa Mendy, social secretary.

In his remarks, shortly after the election, Mamina Hydara and Karamba Jawla, the newly elected presidents of the association, promised to work hard towards the attainment of the aims and objectives of the association.

“My interest is borne out of a great desire to serve this Association with purposeful leadership, characterished by selflessness, dedication and commitment to my duties at all times,” Hydara said.

According to Hydara, they seek to promote peace and love among members of various tertiary institutions in the country, such as MDI, GTMI, Jollof tutors, BIBs, and ex-students of the University of The Gambia.

“I intend to achieve this through the careful planning and implementation of programmes and projects which will register a positive impact on the lives of our Association,” he added.

Both presidents therefore urged members to work closely with the executive to achieve a successful implementation of the association’s programme of activities.

The presiding officer of the election was Ousman Sambou, chairperson of the electoral committee.
