Magistrate Martin Talks Tough

Friday, April 20, 2007
The recently re-deployed Travelling Magistrate to Brikama, Assan Martin, who was hitherto covering Lower River and North Bank Regions, has emphasised that he would not be friends with offenders, especially those he called “repeated offenders.” He made this remark recently during his first sitting at the Brikama Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Martin warned that he would be merciless towards offenders and reiterated his advice that people should be law-abiding, avoid criminal activities and be of good conduct to make this country a better place.

He posited that he has set himself the audacious target to fulfill his duty with credit and vowed to uphold the maxim “Justice delayed is Justice denied,” noting that people’s fate should not be left hanging in the balance.

Meanwhile there is no replacement yet for Magistrate Martin in LRR and NBR, this paper has been reliably informed.

It could be recalled that Mr Martin was sometime last week transferred to Brikama Magistrates Court.
