Jamisa Upper Basic School recently held their 6th annual Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony at the school’s precinct in Brikama.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of Jamisa Upper Basic School, Mr. Batuwo Jaiteh, expressed delight in the ‘achievements’ recorded by the school since its inception in 1999.
According to Mr. Jaiteh, his school has been performing exceptionally well in external examinations, adding that the school has now carved an enviable position for itself as one of the best schools in The Gambia.
He thanked the staff and pupils of the school for their commitment, hardwork and dedication, thereby making the school what it is.
Mr. Jaiteh however appealed to the government to help in fully equipping the school’s Science laboratory, revealing that the school needs many facilities to enable it continue imparting relevant and quality education for the attainment of the goals enshrined in Vision 2020 blue-print.
Mr. Ebrima Sanneh of the President’s Office also the guest speaker of the occasion, commended the principal of the school and his staff for what he called their dynamism.
He pointed out that Jamisa Upper Basic is famous for its performance and therefore urged the staff and pupils to redouble their efforts.
For Mr. Sanneh, education is the foundation for the meaningful development of any country.
Various personalities from the community of Brikama, government, NGOs and the private sector graced the ceremony with their presence.
