King Kolley Distributes 150 Trophies, Jerseys, Balls to Western Region

Lamin King Kolley, the chairman of Western Region Sports Committee, has again proved criticisms wrong by providing a large quantity and quality sports materials to all sports committees, teams, and academies within Western Region and beyond.

The Brikama Mini Stadium better known as Box Bar was yesterday morning the venue of the unprecedented occasion in the history of 52-year of Gambian Football.
The donation items included 150 trophies, 10 sets of Jerseys, 10 Football balls, 2 sets of goal nets, Volleyball and football booths.

Some of the beneficiaries are: the 10 District Sports Committees in Western Region including Brikama, 20 well know Village Sports Committees within Western Region, the four GFA recognised Zones in the region namely Lamin, Sukuta, Gunjur and Brikama.
The other recipients are Gambia Armed Forces, The Police, the Regional Education Office Region II and Kuloro Lower Basic School.

Four divisional teams from the region namely Jambanjelly United, Brikama United, and Nema United of the GFA second Division and Jamwelly FC (Manduar) in the third Division also got their part from Mr. Kolley’s cake.
Some academies and clubs namely Gill Kock Academy, Brikama Academy, Jarra West Football Academy, Diamond Sisters, Reality Friends, Faraba Kaira also received valuable items.

Two Radio Stations in the region (FMB Radio, Yiriwa FM), Brikama Volleyball and Basketball teams benefited from Lamin King Kolley’s donation as well as Gambia College and Kambeng Sports Committee for their contribution to the development of Sports in the region.
Central River Region also received four trophies.

Speaking at the colorful ceremony, Lamin King Kolley said this unprecedented occasion is the fulfillment of his promises he made two years ago when he was elected Chairman of Western Region Sports Committee.
“I promise that I would take sports in Western region to higher heights,” he said.

Mr. Kolley warned all first and second divisions teams that in the next eight years Western region would claim both the first, second and FA cup titles.
“Within two years we have managed to put four teams in the GFA leagues and expect 6 in the next two years,” King Kolley told the gathering.

Continuing he said: “They are accusing me of single-handling the affairs of Western Region Sports Committee and today am here presenting materials alone and were are those critics,”
Deputising for the Governor of Western Region, Abdou FM Badgie, his deputy Mrs. Sai Faal described King Kolley as a leader with a vision, who has taken Western Region Sports to another level.

“King Kolley was the man behind the electrification of the Mini Stadium before Nayconf,” she revealed.
Other speakers at the ceremony include Bakary Tereman Dahaba from GFA, Ensa Badgie Commissioner of Police for Western Region, Bakary Dampha alias Paco of Bakau Sports Committee, Lamin Sanneh of the National Sports Council, Lamin HSF Jarjue National Assembly Member for Kombo Central and Lamin Camara, FIFA referee and chairman of Kombo North District Sports Committee.
