Kombo East Candidate Trial Deferred Yet Again

Tuesday, August 7, 2007

The long-drawn-out trial of the Kombo East UDP Candidate Lamin R. Darboe, Buba Darboe and their co-accused Jareh Fatty and Maimuna Jobarteh has suffered yet another setback.

It resumed last Wednesday at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Johnny Njie.

But the case did not proceed because the police prosecutor ASP Badjie who had been in charge of the case had been transferred to another station.

The new man in charge Corporal 413 Sanyang requested for the case to be adjoined to enable him to familiarise himself with it.

As a result, the case had to be adjoined yet again until 13th August 2007 for continuation.

It could be recalled that the accused have been standing trial since last year for allegedly assaulting one Kawsu Gibba, immediately after the results of the bye-election in Kombo East were announced, a charge the accused denied.
