Due to the Holy month of Ramadan, which starts today, Brikama Youth and Sports Association (BYSA) is working on modalities of staging night matches in the 2007 Nawettan championship.
Speaking to Pointsport yesterday, the Chairman of Brikama Youth and Sports Association, Lamin King Colley, revealed that plans are underway to stage night matches in Brikama.
He added that the executive committee of BYSA was expected to meet last night to look into the proposal of playing night matches.
"It would not be a problem to organise matches at night at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama as the Stadium has electricity facilities to accommodate the demand," he reassured.
BYSA Boss added that if the proposal is approve by the executive committee in their last night meeting, matches would be played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:00pm.
King Colley revealed that staging night matches would definitely help them to complete their Nawettan competition on time.
"We realised that not many activities took place during the Holy month of Ramadan, the matches would engage people after the night prayers," Kin Colley concluded.
It could be recalled that this would not be the first time that night matches have been played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium as during the 2006 National Youth Conference and Festival (NAYCONF) hosted in Brikama, some football matches were taking place at night.
If every thing goes well, Brikama would be the first Nawettan Zone to stage night matches, another plus for Western Region, Lamin King Colley and his executive committee members.
