Kombo North NAM Dragged to Court

Monday, January 7, 2008

Hon. Adama Cham, the National Assembly Member for the biggest constituency in The Gambia, Kombo North, who doubles as the Administrative Secretary of the ruling APRC party, has recently been dragged to court by one Anna Camara of Lamin village, Kombo North for allegedly owing her an amount of D13,000.00.

The plaintiff, Anna Camara, a businesswoman, told the Brikama Magistrate’s Court that she gave credit of D40,000.00 to Hon. Adama Cham, who later on gave her a cheque for the amount. On presenting the cheque dated 31st January 2007 for cashing at a bank, it was not honoured apparently because the account was in the red.

She further adduced that it took two months for Hon. Adama Cham to make a part payment of D27,000.00, leaving an outstanding balance of D13,000.00. Ever since the efforts to recover the said amount remained difficult.

Meanwhile the court has given Hon. Adama Cham 14 days from 18 December 2007 to clear this amount.
