Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has warned the alleged Babylon attackers to refrain from creating trouble in the community, adding that if any one is found wanting, the individual will be dealt with accordingly.
The magistrate’s warning came after the state formally dropped charges against 40 of the alleged Babylon attackers last Tuesday.
According to Magistrate Jammeh, the warning is a signal to all the accused persons who were said to have involved in the Babylon saga, including those whose charges were dropped.
However, the case could not proceed even after the state formally dropped the charges against the 40 people, due to the absence of the defense counsel Lawyer Antouman Gaye. The case was subsequently adjourned to October 15, for continuation.
It could be recalled that the accused persons were alleged to have attacked Babylon Village some time in March this year, which subsequently resulted to the arrest and detention of 95 suspects, who were charged on four criminal counts including arson.
