The Community Driving Development Project (CDDP) recently donated two Dell computers, valued at D40, 000 (Forty Thousand Dalasis), to the Brikama Area Council’s (BAC ) Planning and Finance Units, at a colourful ceremony held at the councils premises in Brikama.

The donation, according to CDDP officials was meant to empower local councils to raise their capacities in service delivery, especially in the area of record keeping. Alagie Jabang, CDDP finance controller at BAC, handed over the materials to the council.

Mrs Adama Bojang, acting director of Brikama Area Council Planning and Development, thanked Alagie Jabang on behalf of the CDDP for the gesture. She said " the gesture would facilitate a vibrant and sound implementation of any project related to community driving selected communities in Western Region. Mrs Bojang then expressed overwhelming gratitude to the donors and assured them that the materials would be wisely utilised.

Reacting to the donation, Sunkari Badjie, Chairman of Brikama Area Council, stressed the robust determinations of CDDP in empowering local councils. Chairman Badjie revealed that BAC under his Chairmanship was yeaning to transform the council to a full-fledged computerised council. He thanked the donors and vowed that the materials would be put into good use.

Officially handing over the computers to the council, the Community Driving Development Project’s financial controller,  Alagie Jabang noted that his organisation CDDP seeks to provide a sound and robust management at all the local councils in The Gambia. He outlined that the two computers were purchased by the CDDP at the sum of over D40, 000. He then urged the B A C  to make the best use of the gift.
