Senegalese charged for stealing

Tuesday, September 2, 2008
Alagie Bah, a Senegalese, was on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Ayoub John Njie of the Brikama Magistrates Court, charged for stealing D6,175, contrary to the laws of The Gambia.

Mr Bah is said to have stolen the said amount of money from a suit case on July 17, this year, from a vehicle, along the Brikama-Serrekunda highway.

When the charge sheet was read to him, Alagie Bah pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him. He alleged that it was one Tapha who had opened the suitcase, while a third person, one Hadim Njie, a Senegalese, absconded with the money, and fled to Senegal.

Magistrate Njie adjourned the case for the continuation of the proceedings. He also warned the accused that if he continued to waist the court’s time by pleading not guilty to the charge and subsequently found guilty by the court, he would be delt with accordingly.
Police prosecutor, Cpl 1260 Colley, represented the IGP in the case.
