Jambur case adjourned

Wednesday, April 29, 2009
The criminal case involving four youths from Jambur village could not proceed on Tuesday, 28 April, at the Brikama Magistrates Court due to the absence of the presiding Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh, who was said to be sick.

Morro Gassama, Nuha Darboe, Momodou Bojang and Foday Bojang are alleged to have attempted to burn the house of the Jambur Alkaloo, Alhaji Juju Bojang, on January 30,2009. The case, which was adjourned to 7 May, 2009, has attracted a lot of attention, with many residents of the village attending proceedings. This large turnout from Jambur prompted a beef-up of security at the court premises.

At the last session, the prosecution announced that it has rested its case. The defense counsel, Badou Counteh, then made a no case to answer submission, which the magistrate is expected to rule on.
