Lawyer Gomez saves client from going to remand

Tuesday, February 10, 2009
Lawyer Edu Gomez, the defense counsel for Ansu Jarju and Malang Sarjo, yesterday  fought very hard in court to make sure that Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of Brikama Magistrate court did not revoke the bail condition to his clients.

Magistrate Jammeh threatened to revoke the duo’s bail and send them to remand so as to set an example  and thereby  send a message to people who may involve in cattle rustling. This action prompted Lawyer Gomez to involve the Magistrate in a legal cajoling in order to convince him, which he succeeded.

Ansu and Sarjo were accused of been in possession of alleged stolen bull. It could be recalled last Monday, Magistrate Jammeh sentenced one Legaye Sowe to five years and one month for cattle rustling and vowed to continue with the crusade against cattle rustlers in the area.
