Motorbike stealing baker sentenced

Tuesday, February 3, 2009
Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates Court yesterday convicted one Sajor Camara, a baker, for stealing a motorcycle.  He was sentenced to a fine of D1,000, in default to serve 9 months imprisonment.

In his plea for mitigation, Sajor told the court that he has two wives and one of them has delivered and is at the Brikama Health Centre. He also appealed for mercy as a first time offender.

The presiding magistrate however replied that he does not normally show leniency in such cases so as to deter other criminals. He then gave the convict the D1,000 fine. The IGP was represented by Sergeant Samura.
