Youth convicted for illegal charcoal production

The Brikama Magistrates Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh, yesterday, convicted and sentenced one Yahya Touray from Peneng in Kombo Central for illegal charcoal production.

Yahya Touray was found guilty of illegally producing charcoal and was  sentenced to a fine of D3000 in default to serve one year imprisonment. According to the fact of the case, on March 24  2009, the convict was found producing charcoal in the state forest of Peneng by one Kebba Sabally, a forestry officer. He was arrested and taken to Brikama Police Station where he was charged with the offence committed.
