Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Mauritanian Cultural Complex, a learning institution in The Gambia, last Sunday celebrated end of academic year at a colourful ceremony held at the ground of the Complex in Bundung.

Speaking at the ceremony, the principal of the complex, Mr. Itwal Oumru, said the Mauritanian Cultural Complex was created in 1992 due to the strong bilateral relations between The Gambia and Mauritania.

He added that since its creation, the Complex has opened a door of fruitful learning and cordial relationship between Mauritanians and Gambians, as well as non-Gambians.

“I also seize the opportunity to let you know that our complex does not receive payment of school fees from students,” the principal disclosed.

He also said the Complex had overseen the graduation of 375 students, adding: “There are 444 students in the primary school and 91 in grade 7-9 and a staff of 32 teachers.”

He therefore urged the general public to get their children enrolled at the Complex for “better education”.

Mr. Oumru added that after their primary and lower basic schooling at the complex in The Gambia, Mauritanian students would have the chance or opportunity of going to Mauritania to complete their high school and further their education.
