The Bundung Magistrates’ Court has passed a verdict in the trial of one Saikou Danso and Danso could now spend six months in jail if the sentence delivered by magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay is any guide.
Narrating the facts of the case on Wednesday of last week, prosecutor 1674 Ceesay recounted that the convict was under a police detention at Wellingara when he decided to effect his escape. "Whilst under detention, he sought a permission to answer the call of nature and in the process managed to escape from the toilet," the prosecution officer recalled.
Before the six month jail term was handed down to him, Danso begged the magistrate to pardon him because, in his own words, he was the only son of his mother and alleged that he had undergone an extreme torture in the hands of the police.
