Youth Fined D1500 for Stealing Timber

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

A youth, Sulayman Camara, was lately convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of D1500 or an option to serve three months in jail.

Camara had admitted responsibility for stealing three pieces of timber from one Amadou Baldeh in Bijilo sometime last month.

Before handing down the judgement, magistrate B.O. Jobe of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court advised Camara to desist from such unholy practices. He added that he would temper justice with mercy in Camara’s trial since the convict was a first offender and did not waste court’s time by owning up to his crime.
