Judgment Expected in Assault Case

Tuesday, July 3, 2007

Magistrate B.O. Jobe of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court is tomorrow expected to deliver verdict in the trial of one Sulay Njie on assault charges.

Sulay was last week arraigned before magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay for assaulting as well as intimidating one Binta Saidy.

Giving a run-down of the details of the case, the prosecution officer, 321 Sowe, informed the court that Sulay was apprehended by a group of people at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe on 10 June 2007. The prosecution narrated that the accused had fallen on Binta but was seen by a group people as he made frantic efforts to make love with her.

"When he saw the people, he took flight but was caught and escorted to Bakoteh Police Station," officer Sowe adduced.

Meanwhile, magistrate Saho-Ceesay has now assigned the matter to magistrate B.O. Jobe who is expected to deliver the judgment tomorrow.
