Sunday, August 5, 2007

The caretaker Mayor of KMC, Alieu Momar Njie, recently presided over the presentation ceremony of cheques to the communities of Faji-Kunda, Tallinding and Bundung.

The money disbursed amounted to D333,000 and was provided by Community Skills Improvement Project (CSIP) through the Social Development Fund.
The KMC acting mayor described the event as yet another landmark development in the relentless march towards empowering the women in economic term and otherwise.

According to mayor Njie, the Gambian women are close to the heart of the Gambian leader and is evidently championing their cause at full stretch.
He pointed out that the disbursement of the fund was the outcome of a negotiation that the government of The Gambia engaged CSIP in through the department of Community Development. This, he went on, was a clear indication of President Jammeh’s concern for the women and youths of The Gambia.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Community Development Officer for KMC, Aja Kassa Sanneh, explained that CSIP is a six-year project funded by African Development Bank and the government of The Gambia for poverty reduction.
