FSSS holds graduation ceremony

africa » gambia » bwiam
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Fatima Senior Secondary School (FSSS), last Friday held its graduation and prize giving ceremony at the school ground in Bwiam.

Speaking at the ceremony, the guest speaker of the ceremony, Mr Nuha Jatta, VSO the Gambia, deliberated on the topic “the power of the human brain in the war between good and evil”.

According to him, from physiological and anatomical perspectives the human brain is the best organised, most functional known machine in the universe.

He added that, this graduation ceremony is a shinning example as their parents, teachers, sponsors and well wishers have gathered here to endorse their 12 long years at hard work.

He called on the graduating students to take part in self-assessment, self-evaluation and self-interrogation session. “As you graduate from the prestigious institution the only thing that you could be proud of is a developed brain, your teachers and parents have worked extremely hard to support you, the government has created the environment for your brains to be developed”, he said.

When you finally leave this school and your families to join the larger society the only weapon you could forever rely on is your brains, do not allow anything to destroy it whether drugs or dangerous driving, the best way to develop your brainpower is to read more, I therefore urge you to read and read everything, the wider world is highly competitive.

According to him, they have no country other than the Gambia and they have no continent other than Africa. He added that they should use their brainpower to move Gambia and Africa forward, as they should have the choice to use their brains to fellow the path of good where they will end up being counted among the progressive citizen of this country, similarly, they have the choice to follow the path of evil which will lead them to self destruction. He further said that, human other societies have used their human brains to improve their legal systems so that every citizen has the full protection at the law, in each of the above mentioned cases the human power defines the universal or the relative good and evil.
