The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bala Garba Jahumpa, hailed what he called the cordial relationship between The Gambia and Great Britain.
Secy Jahumpa was speaking at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Cape Point on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday celebration on Monday, 23rd April.
He commended the British government for assisting The Gambia in the field of education, training of military personnel on peace-keeping missions and their contribution to the tourism sector.
He extended through the High commissioner, President Jammeh’s best wishes to the queen’s 81st birthday anniversary. “I express gratitude to the UK government and its people for being partners in development to The Gambia. We are grateful to your government for the training in the field of education, military and also for thousands of tourists visiting The Gambia annually.”
Mr. Jahumpa reiterated Gambia government’s commitment to continued partnership with UK.
“We are grateful to the UK government for its contribution to development of the tourism and education sectors in The Gambia,” he stated, noting that the annual tourist arrivals from UK is a tremendous source of support for the Gambian economy.
