Star Watch- Assan Lowe- Kaira Silo

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

It is undeniable fact that despite playing in the lower league some players in the second division league are must better than some players in the top league.

One of such a player is Assan Lowe of Unicorns of Ebo Town in the Serekunda West Zone and Kaira Silo in the GFA second division.

Assan Lowe, a central midfielder, was born in London Corner. Like most Gambian players, Assan Lowe started his team football with Midaw Junior Secondary School in Farato and later joined another junior team in Bundung called Bundas in 2000.

He moved to Ebo Town and played for DDC and Chelsea in local tournaments organised at the Ebo Town football field.

After successful junior tournaments, Assan Lowe joined Unicorns FC of Ebo Town in the Serekunda West Nawettan some four years ago.

Joining the New Jeshwang second division outfit, Kaira Silo in the 2005/2006 football season from Nawettan Football, Assan Lowe has earned himself a permanent place in Coach Amat Cham’s side.

“I came as substitute in our first game against Sait Matty since then I was always at the starting line for the remaining games in the league,” Assan revealed.

Continuing he said” in my second year with Kaira Silo, I had an injury just after four matches and I was kept out for seven matches and later bounced back to play the remaining games in the league and the FA Cup”.

A central midfielder, who has virtually got all the admiration and qualities of a good midfielder, Assan Lowe has performed extremely well in the league leading to his team good running in the second division and the FA Cup.

An aimful player, Assan led Kaira Silo to the 2007 FA Cup quarter finals and the present good performance of Unicorns in the Serekunda West Nawettan championship for being the first team to qualify for the second round.

An ardent player, Assan Lowe wants to join top flight Wallidan before taking up the challenge for the national side.

Barcelona FC is Assan’s most loved team and hoped that he will one day join the Nou Camp.

“My best Gambian player is Tijan Jaiteh and my role model is Requelme,” Assan concluded.
