APRC Bakau Supporters Refute Claims of Division

Thursday, November 15, 2007

A group of people claiming to be APRC supporters from Bakau yesterday refuted reports of a division within the APRC camps in Bakau New Town and Fajara. The report was carried in our yesterday issue in a story whose unedited version appeared due to a technical fault.

The group, led by one Alhagie Alpha Omar Jallow, the supposed Chairman of Bakau constituency, walked into our offices yesterday to say that the APRC Bakau camp was strong, united and poised to throw their weight behind the party at all times.

The other members of the group are: Jabou Corr, head Yai Compin in Bakau; Fatou Nyang Ceesay; Edrisa Badjie, chairman Sindola Bakau New Town; Alhagie Bahoum; Isatou Kaba Jaiteh; Fatou Bintou Jammeh and Abdoulie Jallow.

According to Alpha Omar Jallow, no one has yet been selected, adding that they were ready to fully support any candidate chosen by the party executive.

He also refuted the claim that Ousman Senghore withdrew to allow B.B. Darboe to select, noting that he was on the contrary dropped at the selection stage.
