A four-day youth camp organized by the Federation of Gambia Muslim Students’ Organization, FEGAMSO, ended recently at Farafenni Senior Secondary School in Lower River Region.
The annual youth camp brought together over 30 participants from different schools and Islamic associations in Lower River Region.
In a statement at a ceremony organized to declare the camp close, the Chief of Upper Baddibu, Alhaji Sambujang Jagne, pointed out that though education is a highway to success, it’s meaningless without good values.
He urged participants to be always obedient and kind to their parents in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Ali Wifatty, Director of World Islamic Call Society whose office funded the camp, expressed his office’s happiness and willingness to collaborate with FEGAMSO in a mutually reinforcing manner. He also spoke about World Islamic Call Society’s commitment to the propagation of Islam in the country.
For his part, the President of FEGAMSO, Mustapha Barry, urged the participants to utilize and disseminate the knowledge and skills acquired during the four-day camp.
Meanwhile, FEGAMSO is the umbrella body of school-based Islamic clubs and associations in The Gambia and one of its objectives is the promotion of Islam among Muslim students in the country.
