Muslims in Gunjur and its periphery have something to jump for joy following the inauguration of a new mosque in the southern Gambian coastal town.
The strikingly beautiful edifice was built at the tune of D700,000 with funds generously provided by a native of Gunjur, Alhajie Conteh.
In his homely, the deputy Imam of Gunjur, Sheikh Malang Touray, was enthusiastically overwhelmed with delight over the successful execution of the mosque project.
He thanked Alhajie Conteh for responding to one of the key religious needs of the town and its environs.
Imam Touray urged Muslims in that area of the country to take favourable advantage of the mosque by worshipping in it.
The deputy Imam also highlighted the need for a committee to be responsible for the steering of the affairs of the house of God.
The Chairman of Gunjur VDC, Mr. Nfamara Bojang, explained that the new mosque would greatly help worshippers in performing their daily prayers.
He then entreated for peace, unity and limitless development in The Gambia and the rest of the world.
