The Jole Rider Foundation, a UK charity, last Saturday donated three hundred bicycles to three schools in the country.
The beneficiaries are Penyem Upper Basic and Fatima Senior Secondary schools in Western Region and Nyoro Jataba Basic Cycle School in the Lower River Region.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, held at Gunjur Cooperative secko, the Director of the foundation Mr. David Steawgen said that their foundation was founded in 2004 with the aim of helping Gambian schools. He thanked their partners for making the activities of the organisation successful.
Technical Director at the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education Mr. Demba M.S Darboe thanked the donors for the benevolent gesture. He added that the gesture would enable students get to their schools on time. He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the bicycles.
Kebba K. Barrow Secretary General of Jole Rider Foundation expressed similar sentiments.
Other speakers at the ceremony include Fabakary Touray and Martin Gomez.
