Central Region receives GFA balls

Central River Region on Tuesday, received 196 (One hundred and ninety-six) balls from the Regional Education Directorate of Region 5, at a ceremony held at Janjangbureh.

The balls were given to the Region by the Gambia Football Association as part of their efforts to develop grassroot football at school level.

In his presentation address, Bakary Terema Dahaba, Director of Technical Training Centre said the donated balls were given to them by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) in the marking of the CAF’s fifty years of existence. He said the balls are meant for the schools in the region. He spoke at length about the importance of the game-football, noting that the game cannot be developed without the necessary equipment like football.

Receiving the balls, Mr. Janko Sanneh thanked CAF through the GFA for their efforts in improving the continental football, particularly at the grassroot level. Mr. Sanneh said the move will go a long way towards improving the skills of potential youngsters in the region.

Present at the ceremony was Regional Executive Official of Gambia Football Association, Mr. Ebrima Ceesay, Regional coach of Central Region, Alhagie Marong, among other sports enthusiasts.
