Africell Cellular Company Limited on Monday in the evening presented a brand new four-wheel drive KIA vehicle to Ms Yamundow Leigh, the winner of Face of Africell 2007, at a ceremony held at Africell’s head offices along the Kairaba Avenue.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the presentation, Ms Leigh expressed delight with all those who voted for her, thus enabling her to become the Face of Africell. She said the competition has been one of her greatest experience ever.
“I would to like write a book about the [competition] because this event has been a great event in my life. I want generations to come to read about it”, she said.
For her part, Mrs Haddy Leigh, Yamundow’s mother expressed her willingness to continue supporting her daughter to discharge her duties as the Face of Africell.
Like her daughter, she thanked the general public for the confidence bestowed on Yamundow.
Jainaba Touray, the second runner-up who was presented a five-day air ticket to France, thanked her mother and family for being very supportive to her during the course of the competition. She urged young girls to take their education seriously saying, “Education is very significant in life, because if I was not educated I would not have reached this stage of the competition”.
The remaining eight contestants who were presented with cheques for the sum of D10,000 each, expressed their satisfaction with the way and manner the competition was conducted. They spoke of their gratitude to the management and staff of Africell for giving them the opportunity to explore their talents as young people.
Aisha Hydara, a laboratory technician at the AFPRC Hospital in Farafenni and Ousainou Saidy won the air tickets for a five-day trip to Dubai.
