Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered that the cautionary and voluntary statements of Dodou Kassa Jatta, the first accused in the case of Dodou Kassa Jaata and others against the state, to be referred to the handwriting expert of the Gambia Police Force.
In addition the court ordered the first accused to present himself to the finger and writing expert for his specimen signature to be taken for comparison with that on his statements.
This development arose when the first accused, Dodou Kassa Jaata, denied signing the cautionary and voluntary statements, saying that the signature on these statements was not his.
It could be recalled that Dodou Kassa Jaata and six others have been standing trial at the Kanifing Magistrates court for allegedly using abusive language and acting in a manner that is likely to cause breach of the peace, in contravention to the laws of the country.
