Tallinding Central Nursery School , in the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) recently benefited from a donation of different items of school materials, worth over D200,000 from Mr and Mrs Carter and Mr and Mrs Bloomfield, all from the United Kingdom , at a presentation ceremony held at the School ground in Tallinding.

The donated items included school bags, books, pencils, sawing machines, computers, second hand clothes, toys and flash cards, among others.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Buba Camara, Head Master of the nursery school commended the donors for what he described as a kind, timely and worthy gesture, noting that they met the couple in 2005.

According to him, this philanthropists are one out of hundred who   fulfilled their promises as 130 students are currently being sponsored by them.

“Last year, the school benefitted from the donors by getting some school materials,” he said.

According to him, 98% of the students don’t have bags but through this support it will greatly help them a lot, adding that   school fees of the students are paid through their   friends.

Ebou Badjie, Alkalo of Tallinding applauded the donors for the gesture, noting   that this donation will go a long way towards boosting the morale of the schools.

He, therefore, used the occasion to call on the people of the area to unite and work hand-in-glove for the development of the schools. “None of these aiders have a child in the school, but they always come to the aid of our childrens,” he said .

For her part, Jane Bloomfield, Alias “Fatou” thanked the parents for their stance   in the welfare of their children, noting that they will continue to support the school as time goes on.

“Although it can be liked before as the Dalasi is getting strong, but we will do our utmost   best in order to remain on the ground, by paying 12-50 Pounds Sterling for each student towards their education and uniforms,” she added.

Other speakers at the ceremony expressed similar sentiments.
