Magistrate Mbackeh Unimpressed With Prosecution

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Senior magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court was not at all impressed with the way and manner the prosecution was handling the case of one Saikou Jallow.

Saikou had been charged with the offence of robbery with violence but magistrate Mbackeh was not full of praises for prosecutor 1295 Jallow as the case threatens to be blighted by numerous adjournments.

According to the learned magistrate, people should not be allowed to go scot-free after committing serious offences. He added that he would see how best to deal with the case in an expeditiously manner, explaining that such cases at times end up being struck out. This, added he, do not tell well.

Magistrate Mbackeh revealed his disenchantment with the prosecution recently following an application filed by Officer Jallow to once again adjourn the case for lack of witnesse(s).
