D75,000 claim suit in court

One Buba Sillah, a plaintiff from Kanifing Layout filed a legal suit against Salim Koita of Manjai Kunda for the sum of D75,000 as damages for a breach of contract and loss of earning, in a case presided over by Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, last Friday. According to the claim sheet, Buba Sillah contracted Salim Koita to design sign boards (2.5m by 3m). Based on this agreement with Salim Koita, Buba Sillah gave him the sum of D5,500 as advance payment for the contract, which he (Koita) promised to carry out within two weeks but he later breached the contract as he failed to do the job within the prescribed time and manner.
Buba Sillah also urged Salim Koita to do the job as agreed. When the claim sheet was read Salim Koita denied liability. This prompted Magistrate Mbakeh to adjourn the matter to the November 29, for continuation.
