Maline Security Guard Sent to Jail for Stealing TV Set

Tuesday, December 4, 2007

One Muhammed Jatta, an employee of the Maline Security Company, was recently convicted and sentenced to serve one year in jail without any alternative of a court fine.

The verdict was delivered by Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court when the convict pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a 21-inch LG television set valued at D15, 000. The TV set was the property of one Mr. Freddie of Fajara in Bakau.

The police charge sheet that accompanied Muhammed Jatta to court stated that Jatta was on duty on 17 November 2007, at the residence of Mr. Freddie and closed the following day but he returned there hours later, jumped from behind, broke into the house and took away the TV set.

He was arrested as he tried to sell the TV to one Amie Touray at D3000.
