Wednesday, May 30, 2007

Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, yesterday sentenced Abdoulie Bah to a fine of D8,000 or in default to serve a two-year jail term for causing a road accident that caused serious bodily harm on one Avarico and Ousman Gaye.

Mr. Bah’s victims were reportedly receiving medical attention in Dakar, Senegal.
Handing his judgement, Principal Magistrate Richards also ordered the accused to compensate the victims with D10,000 each.

He stressed that road traffic offenders must always be punished, adding that some drivers remain heedless to the call for sanity on the roads. He said this has driven fear in the hearts of the commuters, who have been forced to think twice before joining vehicles.
