As Tabara Samba is yet to Secure a Lawyer
Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court has assured the relatives of late Ebrima Nyan that his court was indeed committed to ensuring that justice is done in the alleged murder case of their relative but that the state was yet to provide the suspect with a lawyer.
As frustration mounts among the relatives of the deceased, who have been disoriented by what they consider as a snail’s-pace progress of the trial, Magistrate Jammeh pointed out that efforts so far made to secure legal representation for the accused, Mrs. Tabara Samba, had been to no avail.
He elucidated that it was not his court’s wish that the case drags on but lamented that it was the duty of the state to provide Mrs. Samba a lawyer if she hadn’t any.
It would be recalled that Tabara Samba was earlier this year charged with murder following her arrest for allegedly killing her husband by scalding him with hot oil.
The case, which resumed yesterday, was yet again adjourned to 20 June 2007.
