Saturday, June 9, 2007

Chinu Dantas, an alleged child kidnapper was on Wednesday granted bail by Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court to the sum of D50,000 with a Gambian surety.

Mr. Dantas was charged for stealing and kidnapping a child in Kanifing Layout. However, he denied the charges.
Mr. Dantas informed the court that he is a citizen of Guinea Bissau.
However, Magistrate Richards warned the accused not to have any interference with the parties connected to the case, after granting him bail.

He then adjourned the case for the prosecution to call its third witness.
It could be recall that the accused did plead guilty to the second charge against him for residing in The Gambia unlawfully for the past nine years without regularising his status.
