Insurance fraudster remanded

Sunday, July 1, 2007

Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded Aki Moyo Kihoridi, an alleged fraudster to the Remand Wing of the State Central Prisons Mile II.

Magistrate Richards made this verdict after the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges of altering a false Gamstar travelling insurance document, which he presented to the offices of the Swedish Counsul in Bakau, in an attempt to secure a visa to Sweden.

Answering to questions at the court, the accused said he has been in the country for the past three years.

According to him, he is a businessman. He then noted that he never knew that the said insurance document is false.
