Son Drops Case against Father As Family Members Intervene

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

The case between Modou Kanyi and Lamin Kanyi, son and father respectively, was settled at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court through the intercession of family members of the parties and some elders on 16th July 2007.

Magistrate Jammeh stated that though it was clear that the plaintiff had invested in his father’s compound, as should be expected of him, the defendant has been extravagant in the manner he had spent this son’s money. He therefore recommended that members of the two parties find a way out to settle the case amicably, advising the plaintiff to take note that he should condone and forgive his father for certain omissions or commissions.

Lawyer Gomez also urged the plaintiff to forgive his father, saying that by doing so God would bless him.
Modou Kanyi, the plaintiff, at length accepted the D23, 000 paid by his father and dropped the D600,500 claim against him.
