In D0.5 million Stop Step theft case Prosecution closes its case

Sergeant Musa Jahateh, the prosecution officer in the on-going D0.5 million theft case at the Stop Step Pharmacy, against Alieu Faye, a former accountant of Stop Step and Jays Electrical Holdings, on Tuesday, June 26, announced the closure his case.

Sergeant Jahateh made this announcement before Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ court, after the testimony of the seventh prosecution witness, Detective Corporal 1501, Foday Saidykhan.

Earlier on Detective Saidykhan told the court that while he was at the Serekunda Police Station on May 2nd 2007, he was instructed by the Assistant Station Officer, together with two of his colleagues to meet the Officer Commanding, CID, Kanifing, Ensa Badjie at the scene of the incident.

Defective Saidykhan told the court that while on their way to Old Jeshwang, they met with OC Badjie, now Police Commissioner Western Region, at Banjul Breweries, from where they proceeded to the scene of the incident.

He said upon their arrival at Old Jeshwang, Commissioner Badjie informed them about the alleged theft. He added that they inspected the Mercedez Benz which the accused had boarded at the time the incident occured, but they did not discover any damage on the windscreen of the Benz.

Dective Saidykhan noted that they then arrested the accused, took him to the Serekunda Police Station where he was cautioned and made statements.
