The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court has issued an order for the deportation of a Guinean national for violating the laws of The Gambia.
Dawda Bah would be deported back to Guinea Conakry after an order was yesterday given to that effect by magistrate Moses Richards.
Narrating the facts of the matter before a hushed courtroom, the prosecution officer, 1295 Jallow, adduced that Dawda was sometime in July found in front of a stall sleeping. When the stall owner came and woke him up, recounted officer Jallow, he sprang up to stab him twice on the left hand.
He was, said officer Jallow, consequently arrested and subsequently escorted to a police station where a statement was obtained from him.
In his judgement following Dawda’s own ‘plea of guilty’ to the charge preferred against him, magistrate Richards sentenced him to spend 12 months in prisons if he defaults in paying a fine of D3000 and a compensation of D2000.
