Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 11th September, 2007 gave Mr. Dudu Kassa Jatta and seven other accused persons one more chance to appear in court on 25th September 2007 or else risk the issuance of a bench warrant for their arrest. The ultimatum followed the failure of the eight accused persons to appear in court on a day they were supposed to open their case, thus prompting Prosecutor 870 Touray to apply to the court to issue a bench warrant for their arrest.
In his ruling on the application, Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh told the court that a written hearing notice had been issued to the defense counsel, Lawyer Camara, for the accused persons to appear in court on 11th September 2007, noting that they failed to honour the notice-hence the ultimatum.
