Two residents of Kanifing South, on Thursday, appeared before Principal Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery and rape, contrary to the laws of The Gambia.
Tony Senghore and Modou Lamin Secka were arrested about two months ago, after they allegedly attacked a psychiatric home in Kanifing South, leaving behind trails of rape and theft.
According to the particulars of the offense, the duo on August 18 2007, at Kanifing South, unlawfully and forcefully robbed a lady (name withheld), injuring her and subjecting her to violent rape.
However, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them. At that juncture, Presiding Magistrate Richards ordered the accused to be kept at the remand wing of the State Central Prisons until the next adjourned date.
Police prosecutor Sgt 870 Touray of the Kanifing Prosecution Unit, represented the IGP at the trial.
