As Prosecution Withdraws Case

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday set free 32 would-be migrants who were earlier brought before him on a charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.

The particulars of the charge sheet stated that on or about 22nd February 2007 at the Bakau beach and diverse places, the accused persons jointly conspired to commit a felony. To wit, travel to Canary Islands, Spain.

At the hearing yesterday Prosecutor 870 Touray stood up and declared that he was withdrawing the case against the accused. Magistrate Jammeh granted the application and advised the accused to make the most of the opportunities available in the country, warning them of the risks of venturing into such a journey.
