As the Kanifing Municipal Council continues to grapple with numerous logistical challenges in ensuring a clean environment, the country’s most populous local authority recently twinned with Greenseeds Inc., Canada.
The twinning of the two like-minded institutions was occasioned by the desire for improved and efficient waste management in the Kanifing municipality. The development will create an avenue for wider stakeholder participation in the area of waste management.
The Chairman of Interim Management Committee of KMC, Mr. Gibou Jagne, asserted that the partnership agreement between KMC and Greenseeds was unprecedented and a landmark development, adding that the partnership is in line with government’s quest for improved social services.
He explained that officials of Greenseeds ‘truly’ intend to invest in waste management on a public/private sector partnership arrangement.
For her part, Dr. Linda, an executive member of Greenseeds Inc., enthused that her organization ‘is proud’ to associate with KMC with the ultimate aim of achieving an enhanced waste management system. for purpose of improving waste management to the people of the municipality. She expresses optimism that the objectives of twining with KMC would be achieve.
Mr. Kemo Conateh Director of Governance at KMC also lauded the initiative.
