Gacem Staff, Alleged Allies in Crime Freed

Wednesday, March 5, 2008

The Gacem employees currently standing trial, as well as their alleged accomplices who reportedly received stolen items from them, recently heaved a sigh of relief after being informed that Gacem was no longer interested in pressing ahead with the litigation.

Joseph Mendy, Samba Jallow, Alhaji Fofana and Musa Camara are the Gacem employees being tried by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for diverting to their own use 46 bags of cement belonging to their employer.

Charges were also pressed against Samba Nyang, Sarra Ceesay and Aminu Muhammed on suspicion of receiving the D9660 worth of cement from the Gacem quartet.

On 28 February 2008, the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court acquitted and discharged the suspects on the grounds that the Gacem lawyer had written to the court communicating their withdrawal from further litigation of the case. The case was therefore dropped accordingly.
