Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court has disclosed that he is currently handling at least five rape cases.
The senior magistrate made this pronouncement on Thursday while presiding over one of the rape cases involving traumatised teenage girls of 13 and 14 years by an old man.
He said all the five cases are similar as the victims are teenagers.
The magistrate expressed concern over the number of rape cases inundating the courts and observed the need for tough decisions to abate the intensity.
He revealed that there was an instance in court when he presided over a rape case where a six-year old girl was raped.
He warned that his court would no longer condone such obscenities in society and urged for stringent actions against offenders.
Senior Magistrate Mbake also lashed out at rapists for their dastardly acts, saying that it is a reflection of their “shamelessness”.
