Visa dealer gets D500,000 bail bond

The Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided by Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo, on Wednesday, granted one Baboucarr Khan court bail in the sum of D500,000, with one Gambian surety.

Baboucarr Kah is being tried for obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 228 of the Criminal Code, laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the case, Mr Khan from July 2 to July 13, at Jeshwang in the Kanifing Municipality intended to defraud one Bunja Njie of the sum of D80,000, claiming that he would facilitate his travel to Europe.

On count two, Mr Khan on the July 10 in Kanifing intended to defraud one Lamin Darboe of the sum of D95,000, claiming that he would facilitate his travel to Europe.

Mr Khan, on count three, from September 7th, 2007 to 22nd September, 2007 in Latrikunda intended to defraud one Omar Fofana of the sum of D80,000, claiming that he would facilitate his travel to Europe.

When the charge sheet was read to him, Baboucarr Khan pleaded not guilty to the three counts preferred against him.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Fadera, at this juncture applied for an adjournment.  Magistrate Buba Jawo granted the application of the police prosecutor and adjourned the case to September 24, for continuation.
