The Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake, last week convicted and sentenced one Abdoulie Bah, to 3 months and 6 months respectively, after he was found guilty of house breaking and stealing.
According to the prosecution, the convict, on the 14th of March 2009, at Latrikunda German, unlawfully entered the house of one Ebrima Bangura, and stole a sewing machine valued at D11,500; a coloured TV valued at D2,500; and a DVD player, valued at D1,750. He had pleaded not guilty.
Delivering his judgement, the senior magistrate told the court that the convict was an intelligent criminal who could have used his intelligence during his school days to gain an important position in the society or to even make himself self-employed. He subsequently handed down the two sentences, which are to run concurrently. Police Prosecutor 319 Jobe appeared for the IGP.
