RDA disburses D415,000 to women groups

The Rural Development Association (RDA), a community-based organisation in Karantaba village in the Kiang West District, on Friday, July 27th, disbursed D415,000 loan to 16 of its affiliated women groups in the Julafarr Ward in Kiang West District in Lower River Region.
In a keynote address, Alhaji Bakary Kambi, Alkalo of Kiang Karantaba village, urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the loans. Alkalo Kambi emphasised on the need for transparency and accountability in the management of the fund.

For her part, Isatou Nyass, Community Development Assistant in for Kiang Manduar Station, thanked RDA on the disbursement of the fund. Ms Nyass described RDA as one of the most outstanding organisations that stands for the development of the area.
She called on the beneficiaries to always exercise sincerity and maintain understanding among themselves.

She further urged them to make a review of the loan agreement document, saying that the groups should repay the loan on time. Kunta Kombo Jammeh, Rural Development Association’s Vice- President, said the loan is intended to boost-up household income, through various income-generating activities, payable within 12 months period.

Mr Kombo concluded that the fund was acquired from the Social Development Fund, under its Community Skills Improvement Project.
Tumani Jarju, a community leader, also spoke at the ceremony.
